New Delhi, Dec 17 (UNI) The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report of a Mumbai-based model levelling serious allegations of rape against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Maharashtra Director General of Police seeking a detailed action
taken report of the case which was filed in 2013 at the earliest.
The model has claimed in a letter that she was raped by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and one Suresh Nagre in 2013 and subsequently she and her family were threatened against speaking about the alleged incident in public.
"It is also reported that the viral letter, reportedly written by the victim, contains details of incidents that have occurred in the last seven years," NCW said in a statement.
In July this year, Godda MP Nishikant Dubey had called for reopening of the alleged rape and kidnapping case which was filed by the model in 2013, but later withdrawn following a reported compromise.
