Ind vs Aus 1st Test Day 1: Virat Kohli India’s saviour– Virat Kohli helped India survive a probing Australian attack to keep hopes alive with a steely half-century after the pacers ran early terror.
Unfortunately, the India skipper fell victim to a run out and had to walk back to the pavilion on 74, after looking well on course for a century.
Kohli reached his fifty with a single off Pat Cummins. Not the usual flamboyance and fair from Kohli but a well-crafted innings from the Indian skipper.
After the loss of Shaw and Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli took over the reins and kept the Aussie bowlers at bay. India entered the twilight session with skipper Kohli and vice captain Rahane at the crease as fortunes looked to be turning in India’s favour.
However, an untimely run out played spoilsport to Kohli’s chances of scoring a ton and once again jeopardized India’s stability in the innings.
Interestingly, if Kohli could have managed to score a hundred he will overcome Ricky Ponting with the most international hundreds record.
Both Kohli and Ponting are currently tied at 41 international centuries so far.
