Nitish directs to develop storm water drainage system

Patna, Dec 17 ( UNI) To provide relief from waterlogging, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today directed the senior authorities to develop storm water drainage system in every town across the state.
After reviewing the progress of the schemes of Urban Development and housing department being implemented under seven resolves part II mission for self-reliant Bihar, Mr Kumar said here that stormwater drainage system would solve the problems of waterlogging.
He also asked for liquid and solid waste management system to make the towns clean and instructed to utilise the wastes through latest technologies. For this Mr Kumar said that the Jeevika workers at some places have developed a model which can be adopted at other places in the interest of the environment.
The chief minister instructed authorities to prepare a work plan to construct a multi-storey building for providing shelter to the landless poor in urban areas. He also asked to set up old age homes with all necessary facilities in urban areas and suggested the concerned department to look after it.
The chief minister directed to develop electric crematoriums and conventional cremation grounds with required in facilities in every Main Town and on the bank of prominent rivers for convenience in performing the last rites.
Regarding prominent cremation ground Bans Ghat in the state capital, Mr Kumar asked to construct two separate ponds for convenience in performing cremation.
He also asked to dig Ponds at prominent cremation grounds which should be used specifically for performing the last rites and maintained that such a system would keep the water of the rivers clean.
Apart from the chief minister, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishor Prasad and other senior officials.
