Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, Commander of the Eastern Command of the Army, said on Wednesday, since the violent clash between Indian troops and Chinese soldiers on LAC in Ladakh, there has been no intrusion or confrontation incident in the Eastern Command area.
Since the skirmish in Galvan Valley, trust between the two countries has come to an end and things will take time to become normal and stable. The Indian Army and the Chinese Army deployed forces on the LAC as a precautionary measure during the Ladakh crisis, which has been steadily declining since the onset of winter.
Chauhan said on Wednesday on the occasion of Victory Day, the Indian Army is ready to meet any challenge in winter. The Chinese Army is rapidly constructing roads and tracks on the Kemang and Sikkim border of Arunachal Pradesh. Chinese troops are working on developing some villages along the border. We too are preparing accordingly and are ready for any challenge.
On the kidnapping of five youths from Arunachal Pradesh by Chinese troops in September, Chauhan said, the deployment of LAC is quite different than LOC with Pakistan. There are many areas where not a single soldier is stationed, but there is constant patrolling.
The McMahon Rekha is based on an incorrect survey and is therefore controversial in many places. So many times citizens inadvertently cross the border and move to the other side. However, in the case of five youths, they were all at the Indian border when they were captured by Chinese soldiers.
