Pak violates ceasefire in Rajouri’s Balakote sector, India retaliates

Jammu, Dec 16 (UNI) Pakistan troops on Wednesday yet again violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Defence spokesman here said that at about 1800 hours Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with Small Arms and intense shelling with Mortars along the LoC in Nowshera sector in District Rajouri.
"Indian Army retaliated befittingly to the firing," he said.

Man held with 24 grams of charas in Hamirpur

Hamirpur (HP), Dec 16 (UNI) Hamirpur Police arrested one person and recovered 24 grams of charas from his possession, police said on Wednesday.
During a routine nakabandi on Wednesday, the accused, identified as Anil Kumar, resident of Nagehra village, was arrested.

The police said during the checking, the man tried to flee but was apprehended by the police and during the course of search, the charas was recovered from him.

Former HPTDC general manager gets one-yr jail term in cheating case

Shimla. Dec 16 (UNI) A Special Court sentenced retired general manager of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) Romesh Kumar Kapoor to one-year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and also fined Rs 20,000.
Pronouncing quantum of sentence on Wednesday, Chief Judicial Magistrate Shimla Dr. Parvinder Singh Arora
sentenced the convict to RI for one year and also slapped him with 20,000/ Rs- under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. In default of payment of fine, he has to further undergo simple imprisonment for three months.
