Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has officially begun. As part of the season, a wealth of new content is now live in both Cold War and Warzone, including new weapons, maps, modes, and more. Developer Treyarch has outlined all the new additions in its Season 1 patch notes.

On the Warzone side, the new Rebirth Island map is now available. This stage is much smaller and denser than the game's Verdansk map, supporting up to 40 players and emphasizing close-range firefights. Alongside the map, a Rebirth Island seasonal event is also now live. It includes 16 new challenges that will net you calling cards, charms, emblems, the Noxious LMG blueprint, and other rewards.

Rebirth Island also features a new mode: Resurgence. Here, the gulag is disabled, and eliminated players will respawn every 30 seconds until the match reaches the final circle or only one team remains. On top of that, killing enemy players will reveal where the rest of their teammates are currently located.

Cold War has received a handful of new Multiplayer maps as well, including The Pines and the festive Nuketown '84 Holiday. Gunfight has also been added to the game alongside four mode-specific maps (Game Show, ICBM, U-Bahn, and KGB), while Zombies mode gets a holiday-themed Jingle Hells mode.

Beyond that, a new Operator has been added to the game: Vikhor "Stitch" Kuzmin. You can unlock him at tier 0 of the Season 1 battle pass, and he comes with two Operator Missions that will get you four Operator skins, as well as calling cards, emblems, and XP. A variety of other new items are also available to unlock via the battle pass, including two guns: the Mac-10 and the Groza.

With the start of Season 1, Black Ops Cold War and Warzone progression have now been merged. Everything you unlock can be used in both Cold War and Warzone; however, Modern Warfare Double XP tokens are no longer compatible with Warzone, which has led to some outcry from fans. Progression systems have been reset in all three titles as well, meaning players are back at level 1. The Cold War weapons have also been causing numerous issues in Warzone.

Developer Treyarch promises that even more content is on the way as the season progresses, including daily challenges, additional game modes, and more. You can check out the full patch notes for Black Ops Cold War's Season One update below.
