AWS brings Project Resilience to ANZ

AWS has extended its Project Resilience to Australia and New Zealand, offering up to US$5,000 in AWS credits to certain organisations to help them prepare for disasters.

"AWS Project Resilience supports organisations, such as those on the front lines including police, fire, and emergency responders, that play a critical role in ensuring their community's resilience, by helping them develop and manage the technology-based aspects of disaster preparedness, said AWS ANZ country director for public sector Iain Rouse.

"Project Resilience offers eligible local government, education, and small and medium community organisations up to US$5,000 in AWS credits, which can be used to offset the cost of storing their data safely and securely on AWS. This means that even if computing equipment, such as laptops and servers, are damaged in a disaster, their critical data is still securely stored in the AWS Cloud, and can be easily accessed by them at any time."

Eligible new customers can request assistance with costs incurred by storing and recovering critical applications and datasets in S3 and Amazon EBS, while eligible existing customers can ask for an offset of the cost of using AWS's CloudEndure disaster recovery service and/or the cost of using their chosen backup software using AWS storage.

A further $5,000 credit may be granted towards the cost of engaging AWS Professional Services, but organisations may choose to seek implementation support from an AWS partner.

AWS partners addressing the public safety and disaster response markets include Whispir (whose cloud-based communications platform is used by the Western Australian Department of Fire and Emergency Services) and Arq Group (which collaborated to create the NSW Rural Bushfire Service's Fires Near Me app which has been downloaded more than 3,000,000 times).
