Greater Noida: The city’s first park with an open gymnasium will be ready by early next year, officials of the local authority have said. The facility will come up inside Mihir Bhoj park, popularly known as City Park.
Earlier this month, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) had started work on developing the open gymnasium and a budget of Rs 63.55 lakh had been set aside for it. The open gym has been set up on a slightly elevated platform and will have equipment like parallel bars, abdominal board, arm wheel, twister, bench, horse rider and equipment for shoulder and chest press.
The central verge, fountain and lights in the park will also be revamped with the budget. Officials said they have asked the contractor to finish the work by January 15 next year. The person will also be responsible for maintaining the equipment for the next five years.
Open gyms will also be set up in 34 residential areas in the next four months. Officials said tenders have been awarded for the projects. “Open gyms should have been set up long back. Senior citizens and working professionals can use these facilities without going to gymnasiums,” said Sector Zeta resident Nitin Srivastava.
Meanwhile, officials said from January 1 next year, a new approach and system will be followed by the horticulture department. “We had earmarked about Rs 5.94 crore in November just for horticulture work. A system is being developed to monitor the condition of flora and fauna in our sectors,” said Deep Chandra, the additional chief executive officer, GNIDA.
Rs 15 crore set aside
for Ved Van park
Noida Authority on Tuesday floated tender for the development of Ved Van park in Sector 78. It pertains to horticulture work at about Rs 15 crore has been set aside for it. Another tender related to civil and electricity work will be floated on Wednesday and that it will be worth Rs 15 crore.
The park will come up on 12 acres. “We go for morning walks on the main Sector 78 road in the absence of a park. The highrise societies in 7X sectors have gardens and parks within the complex. But most complexes lack jogging or walking tracks. We have Meghdootam park but it is in Sector 50, a little far from my place,” said Nilesh Rawat, a resident of Hyde Park. The new park will be near the complex.
