CHENNAI: A 25-hour countdown for the launch of PSLV-C50 carrying communication satellite CMS-01 began at 2.41pm on Wednesday. The launch is scheduled for 3.41pm on Thursday from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in, Sriharikota.
The rocket will place the satellite in a geosynchronous transfer orbit from where it will be raised to its final position.
The launch will be the 52nd flight of PSLV and the 77th launch vehicle mission from the Sriharikota spaceport.
CMS-01 is a communication satellite, with a life of seven years, envisaged for providing services in extended-C band of the frequency spectrum. The extended-C band coverage will include Indian mainland, the Andaman-Nicobar and the Lakshadweep.
This will be Isro’s second launch this year after PSLV-C49, which carried all-weather earth imaging satellite EOS-01 and nine foreign satellites on November 7.
