Granholm, a former two-term Michigan governor, was writing about that state, but would be poised to expand her vision nationwide if confirmed by the Senate to head the Energy Department.

Biden pledged during the presidential campaign to achieve net-zero emissions in the U.S. by 2050, and Granholm would be part of the team working to achieve that goal.
“The private sector needs greater support and political will from our policymakers to help us fully realize the potential of a zero-carbon future,” Granholm wrote.
