Greater Noida: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has appointed a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed elevated road between Yamuna Expressway and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway via Faridabad.
In a few weeks, the cost estimates for developing the road and the exact alignment plan will be ready, officials have said.
A road measuring about 30 km across the Yamuna river is needed to link Yamuna Expressway to the point where an access-controlled stretch is being developed in Ballabhgarh in Faridabad. YEIDA’s chief executive officer (CEO) Arun Vir Singh said RITES Limited has been asked to study all key infrastructure projects in Faridabad and come up with the best possible solution to link the 165km-long expressway with Faridabad.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning three highways in Faridabad, including the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
“Our focus is on having a direct link between Jewar and Delhi airports. Since accessibility to Yamuna Expressway needs to be improved for residents of Haryana, constructing an elevated road up to Ballabhgarh seems like a beneficial proposition for the long run,” Singh added.
Since RITES has been asked to prepare a plan keeping in mind multi-modal connectivity options between Jewar and NCR, officials said the long-term impact of the proposed link needs to be ascertained before going ahead with the project.
While two-thirds of the elevated road will be in Haryana, the remaining part will be under YEIDA. Officials said a meeting with NHAI will be held once the feasibility study is over to discuss the cost of the project.
“If NHAI agrees to take up the project, the Haryana government and YEIDA will only have to give land,” added an officer.
