Russian operators to start purchasing locally-made 5G equipment only from 2023

Wednesday 16 December 2020 | 16:51 CET | News
Russian state-owned corporation Rostec plans to launch commercial production of 5G equipment in 2023, reports Comnews.ru citing CEO Sergey Chemezov. According to a decision by the State Security Council and the federal government, 5G networks can be deployed in the country only using locally-made equipment. This means that no 5G equipment will be available for purchase until 2023. Operators believe the delay could lead to a technological retreat in the country.
