Pillion riders will have to wear a helmet too otherwise they'll be penalised or the driving license of the driver will be cancelled, informed Odisha Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera on December 15. His statement comes after the Road Safety Committee constituted by Supreme Court pressurised the state governments to implement this law at the earliest. ‘Nobody abides by the rule that the pillion rider on a two-wheeler has to wear a helmet too. A meeting was held here and it was decided that checking will begin and pillion riders will have to wear a helmet too otherwise they'll be penalised or the driving license of the driver will be cancelled. It's already provided by law & will now be strictly implemented,’ Behera told to ANI.
