NTA JEE Main 2021 Exam Date, schedule HIGHLIGHTS: The schedule of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021 has been released today by Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal. The entrance test for admission in premier IITs, NITs will be held from February 23 to 26. The candidates can download the application from the website- jeemain.nta.nic.in. The minister said the engineering entrance will be held in multiple shifts from next year — February, March, April and May.

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal in his tweet informed, “Thank you all for sharing your constructive suggestions regarding JEE (Main) exams. We have got your suggestions examined. I will be announcing the schedule, number of times the exam will be held at 6 PM today. Stay tuned.”

JEE Main will also have a new exam pattern. The candidates have to attempt 75 questions out of 90 – or 25 out of questions 30 in each section of chemistry, physics and mathematics.

JEE Main 2021 in 13 languages: Key takeaways

In the new paper pattern introduced, there will be no negative marking in the 15 alternative questions. The paper will have an option to attempt 75 questions out of 90, 25 questions each in the section of chemistry, physics and mathematics. Meanwhile, there will be no change in in the syllabus. Application process begins

The application process for JEE Main 2021 started from today, and can apply till January 16. The fees can be paid online upto January 17 at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates who have cleared plus 2 with at least five subjects can apply for the engineering entrance.

JEE Main will be be held in in multiple dates- February 23 to 26, March 15 to 18, April 27 to 30, May 24 to 28, 2021. The exam will be held in two shifts, morning session from 9 am to 12 pm, afternoon shift from 3 pm to 6 pm

The result of JEE Main February session will be announced in March. Pokhriyal today said, "the first session will be held from February 23-26 and the results will be declared within five days from the last date of exams."

JEE Mains will be held in 13 languages from next year. These include English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Odia and Malayalam, Pokhriyal said.

Education qualification

JEE Main can be attempted by anyone who has cleared class 12 with at least five subjects. Though the JEE Main question paper is based on PCM, it is not necessary to have these as main subjects

Why new paper pattern been introduced?

The change in the question paper format is being introduced to accommodate school Boards that have reduced class 11 and 12 syllabus and those that haven’t, officials said. “Kerala, for instance, hasn’t cut its high school syllabus, while CBSE has. So the JEE-Main has to cover both. Hence the decision made to ask candidates to attempt 75 out of 90 questions,” said an official.

Who can apply?


The application process for JEE Main is likely to commence soon. Anyone who has cleared class 12 exam in 2019, 2018 and 2020 can apply for this exam. Those awaiting their result can also apply. There is no upper age limit.

JEE Main 2021 schedule HIGHLIGHTS: The application process for the JEE Main is likely to commence from today. To apply, a candidate needs a list of documents which includes a copy of a passport-sized photograph with date and signature, scanned copy of signature to upload, date of birth as mentioned on class 10 certificate, class 10 and class 12 marksheets, EWS, PWD, SC/ST or another reservation certificate, if applicable. Also, all relevant documents supporting the education qualification certificates.
