Manoj Singh Rawat of ITBP becomes first ADG from the Force

New Delhi, Dec 16 (UNI) The Appointments Committee of Cabinet on Wednesday approved the empanelment of Manoj Singh Rawat as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

He is first ever officer from the cadre to be promoted to the ADG rank.

An ITBP cadre officer of the 1986 batch, Mr Rawat has a wide range of field and training experience acquired both in India and abroad. At present, he is heading the Operations branch of the ITBP at its headquarters in New Delhi. He is likely to head the newly created Western Command at Chandigarh.

The ITBP Western Command looks after India's border with China in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

New Delhi, Dec 16 (UNI) After examining the suggestions regarding the JEE (mains) exams given by the students and academicians, the government has decided to hold these JEE advance exams in four terms in a year in 13 languages, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' announced on Wednesday.

Cabinet approves RCE of NE region power system improvement project

New Delhi, Dec 16 (UNI) In a major step towards economic development of North Eastern Region through strengthening of Intra - State Transmission and Distribution systems, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the Revised Cost Estimate (RCE) of North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSIP) at an estimated cost of Rs 6,700 crore.
The scheme is being implemented through POWERGRID, a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under Ministry of Power in association with six beneficiary North Eastern States namely, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura and is targeted to be commissioned by December 2021.
