The Karnataka Public Instruction Commissioner has issued orders today to resume the Vidyagama continuous learning programme for Primary and High school children.
The Covid Technical Advisory group had advised against starting the regular schools and hence the Primary and Secondary Education department has decided to launch the Vidyagama programme.
Instead of regular classes with full attendance, the Vidyagama programme will be implemented with a revised format in Government, aided and unaided schools.
AIR correspondent reports, Vidyagama programme that was stopped earlier due to Covid threat will be resumed again from January 1st in a revised format.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar has said that students will be divided into smaller groups of 15 to 20 considering the number of teachers and classrooms available in each school.
Students will be allowed to come to schools for half a day with parental consent.
In compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines, wearing a mask, sanitising hands frequently, and being subjected to thermal scanning will be followed at all schools.
Any student with fever, cough, cold and other symptoms of Covid-19 will not be allowed.
Timetables will be set with three classes of 45 minutes each.
As per the schedule released by the Department of Primary and Secondary Education, students of class 10 will have classes in the morning, students in classes 9 and 8 will have classes in the afternoon and the primary level classes are planned to be held on alternate days.
