GURUGRAM: The two-day online training programme for Covid-19
vaccination that began on Monday spelt out roles for each of the health workers who would be involved in the process.
The meeting was attended by 10 officials of the
Gurugram health department. Teams of five health workers will be formed for each session, in which 100 vaccines will be administered. While one of the workers will be called ‘vaccinator officer’, the other four will be called ‘vaccination officers’.
Vaccination officer 1 will be present at the entry gate to check the pre-registered beneficiaries and allow them to move forward.
Meanwhile, vaccination officer 2 will verify their details on CoWin portal and send them for vaccination.
After the vaccination is done, the beneficiaries will wait in the observation room for 30 minutes. The officer will enter their details online, after which the beneficiaries will receive a message of the schedule for the next dose.
Vaccination officer 3 and vaccination officer 4 will be deployed for crowd management and adverse events following immunisation.
“We are well-prepared for the rollout of the vaccination programme. The administration will give us a list of staff for the teams. Two members — the vaccinator and the adverse effect observation staff — will be from the health department while the remaining three will be provided by the administration for management. We are training our staff and field doctors. The staff provided by the administration will be trained next week,” said Gurugram chief medical officer Virender Yadav.
The health department will also identify vaccine session sites, where the entry and exit points will be separate, well-ventilated, spacious, with water supply and washrooms. Officials said that a meeting of the district task force for
Covid-19 vaccination will be held on Friday in which the weekly update will be given to the deputy commissioner and the sites will be discussed.
“Safe injection practices and cold chain management were discussed on Monday. The vaccinators should have kits for adverse reactions, containing adrenaline, hydrocortisone and normal saline. In such cases, vaccinators should know the age- and weight-specific adrenaline doses. The vaccinator will also have to evaluate whether the beneficiary requires hospitalisation,” said Dr MP Singh, district immunisation officer.
