Imphal, December 14 2020: Traffic Control Police (TCP), Imphal West today pulled up 222 two-wheeler riders from Paona Keithel and Thangal Keithel, and collected Rs 35,400 as fine for not wearing helmets.

Talking about the special drive undertaken at the instruction of the TCP Imphal West SP, Additional Superintendent of Police A Debananda said that the drive was carried out with an intention to save lives.

He said that they would carry on the drive.

The Additional SP said that chances of fatality in road accidents are much higher when two-wheeler riders and pillion riders do not wear helmets.

Even though there is a law which says that all twowheeler riders and pillion riders must wear helmets, many people have been violating the same law in Manipur, he added.
