UP govt proposes urbanisation of 32 big villages

Lucknow, Dec 15 (UNI) In accordance with the Uttar Pradesh government's plan to give a major thrust to the urbanisation, 32 big villages in the state will be upgraded as Nagar Panchayat along with an increase in the area of 20 other urban local bodies.

After upgrading Ayodhya and Mathura-Vrindavan as Nagar Nigam for their fast development and urbanisation for promoting religious tourism, Chitrakoot will be converted into a Nagar Nigam soon, official sources said on Tuesday, adding that a draft has already been prepared for the same.
The state urban development department has sent the proposal to the districts for its approval and suggestions, thereafter it would be brought before the state cabinet for its nod, sources said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier announced that Chitrakoot would be developed as an international religious tourism spot and already a ropeway is being installed for the pilgrims.
After Chitrakoot gets Nagar Nigam status, then the total number of Nagar Nigam in the state will increase to 18 and while adding 32 villages as Nagar Panchayat, the total urban local bodies in the state will go up to 522.
