The recent snowfall at Kufri, even though brief, has brought some happiness to the distraught small-time tourism operators in this Himachali hill station. After the snowfall, tourist arrival has increased to some extent at this famous tourist spot, 20 kms from Shimla. As per the tour operators of this state, the snowfall has pushed the business up by almost 10 per cent.

To quote Sohan Thakur, president of the horse union, “The business had hit rock bottom following the massive spike in Covid cases after Diwali. The snowfall has attracted tourists from the neighbouring states.” Now, they are looking forward to White Christmas and the New Year in 2020-2021.

“A good snowfall around Christmas will give some fillip to the business here, which has been in the doldrums since the lockdown in March,” he said, adding, “That’s only if the Covid situation doesn’t deteriorate in the state.”
