LaLiga 2020 – Messi scores, Barcelona wins : Lionel Messi scored the only goal as Barcelona beat struggling Levante 1-0 to achieve victory after a long time. Barca’s fifth league win lifts them two places up the La Liga table to eighth. Barcelona will now play leaders Real Sociedad on Wednesday.
Messi’s goal was greeted with relief by his team-mates after a bad week for Ronald Koeman’s side. They followed up a surprise defeat at Cadiz last weekend. Barcelona also lost to Juventus 0-3 in the Champions League.
That defeat to Juve means Barcelona will be unseeded when the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League is made on Monday.
In another La Liga game on Sunday evening, leaders Real Sociedad played a 1-1 draw with Eibar. 4th placed team in the La Liga points table Villarreal also were held by Real Betis.
