The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and provided professorial chairs to the tune of NGN 40 million in two more Nigerian universities, namely University of Ibadan in Oyo State and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi State. They will receive NGN 20 million each over the next two years for research to promote innovation to support socio-economic development in the country.
Umar Danbatta, executive vice-chairman of NCC, said this continues the regulator's initiative to strengthen the telecoms industry's contribution to national development. He said it is in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) for 2020-2030, which was launched by the government in 2019.
