Panama delays analogue switch-off until mid-2021

Panama's public services authority ASEP announced that it now plans to switch off the analogue signal in three of the country's most highly-populated regions in 01 June 2021, around 9 months later than originally planned due to difficulties arising from Covid-19 measures. The provinces of Panama, Panama West, and Colon, which together account for some 60 percent of the country's TV homes, will be the first to cease analogue TV transmissions in June next year after achieving 90 percent penetration of DTT, followed by Cocle, Herrera, Los Santos and Veraguas in phase two, Chiriqui and Bocas del
