With the victory New Zealand has now become the No.1 test side in the world. It is first time in the history, that NZ has achieved No.1 rank in the test arena. “Obviously, it is a tremendous achievement. But, one of those things that is grafted over many seasons and the way, looking back at last five-six years, Test cricket is my favourite format. What we have been able to achieve at home, and some special wins in overseas as well, that has been amazing,” said Boult in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of BlackCaps.

Kyle Jamieson was named Player of the Series: “It’s cool to be part of such a special group. I’m glad to play my small part in winning Test matches. It’s a collective effort. The whole bowling unit performed so well. I guess getting the most out of myself is what motivates me the most. To win games of cricket. I think obviously my bowling will take preference naturally but I’d like to be an all-rounder. Need to get my batting up the gears. I have had four Tests at home now and these conditions are familiar to me. When the overseas tours happen, I’d like to learn from those experiences”

Henry Nicholls was awarded Player of the Match: ‘It was obviously nice to contribute. Nice to be part of a Test win as well as a series win. There were lots of ebbs and flows (in my innings), also had a lot of luck too which helps. Got good support from the lower order and then Wagner did what he does at the end. We knew that coming here without Kane would be a challenge’
