A two-member team of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes today visited the city to take up the matter regarding the complaint of Umesh Kumar, a local resident. The team included Gyan Chand and Prabhdyal.
Umesh, a resident of Vishwakarma House, here, had lodged a complaint, alleging that his landlord Gurdeep Singh with the help of 15-20 goons had taken away his household goods and dumped the same in the street and the house where he was staying was also damaged.
The local police have registered a case against the accused, who were later released on bail.
The commission also saw the belongings of the victim lying in the street and the damaged house.
The team also called the ACPs concerned to the spot and directed him to add sections of the SC and ST Act in the case.
The commission also directed the police officers to arrest the culprits and submit a report to the commission within 10 days.
Ashwani Sahota, rashtriye sarvoch nirdeshak of the Bhartiye Valmiki Dharam Samaj, and Shiv Soni, national adviser, who also went to the spot, said the real tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar would be to extend justice to the needy and the police should grant justice to the victim in this case also.
