While the country is already struggling with the coronavirus crisis, cases of online fraud have increased considerably during the pandemic. Meanwhile, a viral message has claimed that the government is giving Rs 70,000 under the Prime Minister's Pension Scheme. The fact-checking arm of the government's Press Information Bureau (PIB) has told the truth behind the message.
People are receiving the message in which it is being said that they are eligible to get 70 thousand rupees under PM Pension Yojana. The message reads, "Congrats !! Your eligibility for Rs.70k PM Pension Yojna 2020 with Ref:PMXX689 *T&C Apply. Verify your details." A link has also been provided with this message.
PIB Fact Check has shared the message on Twitter and clarified that this message is completely false and no such scheme is being run by the government.

It may also be noted that recently, a fake message of giving Rs 5 lakh to widows was also going viral. In the message, it was claimed that under the 'Mahila Smridhi Yojna', the central government is depositing Rs 5 lakh to the bank account of all widowed women and providing free sewing machine. After this, PIB had informed that no such scheme is being run by the Central Government.
