Letter: Allyson Gamble is missed

(Al Hartmann | Tribune file photo) Gov. Gary Herbert, center, with Allyson Gamble, Executive Director of the Capitol Presrvation Board pose with other state officials Monday Jan 4 after the unveiling of a mosaic of the state symbol that commemorates Utah Statehood Day and the 100th anniversary of the construction of the Capitol building.

I note with sadness the passing of Allyson Gamble, the executive director of the Utah Capitol Preservation Board. I joined the team working on the restoration shortly after the closing in 2004. I knew Allyson as the assistant to David Hart, architect of the Capitol, and as the director of communications for the board. She was a true propelling force on every project. She was also a trusted adviser to architect Hart.

But I also witnessed true and unmitigated suffering as she worked each day while she waited for her first heart transplant. After the building reopened I moved on, but I heard of yet another transplant and yearned after her. She will truly be missed in the chambers and halls of that great building and by her family.
