DDC Polls: Amidst chill, polling begins for Phase-6, till 0900 hrs, 8.79 pc polling recorded in J&K

Jammu, Dec 13 (UNI) Braving chill, people on Sunday morning lined up to exercise their right to franchise and till 0900 hours, 8.79 per cent of polling was recorded across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Official spokesman here said that the sixth phase of DDC elections 2020 recorded voter percentage of 8.79 percent across different constituencies spread over different districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 0900 hours.

As per the figures given by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, Pulwama has recorded voting percentage of 1.81%, Baramulla 3.10%, Kulgam 4.09%, Shopian 0.51%, Anantnag 2.40%, Bandipora 9.53%, Ganderbal 5.39%, Kupwara 5.52% and Budgam 6.40% till 0900 hrs.

Similarly, in Jammu division, Udhampur has recorded voting percentage of 11.54%, Jammu 15.08%, Kathua 12.55%, Ramban 8.63%, Doda 9.19%, Samba 16.38%, Poonch 14.56%, Rajouri 11.25% and Reasi 14.57% till 0900 hrs.

Moreover it was informed that the Kashmir Division recorded an overall polling percentage of 4.17% while Jammu Division recorded 12.73% upto 0900 hours.

In the 6th Phase of DDC elections, voting is being held in 31 DDC constituencies, 14 from Kashmir division and 17 from Jammu division.

Moreover for smooth conduct of elections, the spokesman said that 2071 polling stations, 1208 in Kashmir division and 863 in Jammu division have been setup in this phase, where 748301 electors (390432 male and 357869 female voters) will exercise their right to franchise.

Bhopal, Dec 13 (UNI) The death of three novel coronavirus-positive patients at a ward of the Madhya Pradesh capital’s Hamidia Hospital was not related to a power outage, an inquiry has concluded.
The report was submitted on Saturday to the state dispensation by Divisional Commissioner Kavindra Kiyawat who had been directed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to investigate the incident.

MP CM lauds SDM’s promptness

Bhopal, Dec 12 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed satisfaction on Saturday over the fact that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Court in Hoshangabad District’s Pipariya invoked the new agrarian sector legislation, constituted a reconciliation board and provided justice to cultivators by ensuring sale of 2,700 quintals of paddy at Rs 3,000 per quintal.
“The district administration’s taking action within 24 hours is commendable. When peasants Pushparaj Patel and Brajesh Patel complained to SDM Nitin Tale, it was taken seriously,” the veteran leader was officially quoted as saying.

MP CM’s focus on better medical facilities

Bhopal, Dec 12 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday called for a more robust system in the health sphere, it was officially learnt.
“In the maiden phase, management of medical college hospitals should be handed over to executives. Doctors must solely attend to treatment. In the next stage, the system ought to be replicated at District infirmaries. There will be no dearth of budgetary allocation. Certain decisions should be taken immediately to improve management at hospitals and long-term planning must be done in this direction. Autonomy of government infirmaries ought to be discussed,” the senior politician averred while chairing a Health Department meeting.

Satna, MP, Dec 12 (UNI) Two passengers died and 35 were injured – five grievously – when a privately-owned bus, en route from here to Kothar, overturned in the vicinity of Bharjuna village on Saturday; law-enforcement authorities said.
Those hurt were rushed to the District infirmary.
