GREATER NOIDA: The gunner of a former Firozabad MP of the Samajwadi Party allegedly opened fire at the manager and employees of a dhaba after they allegedly refused to give him and his three friends food after closure of the eatery late on Friday night. The four friends have been arrested, police said.
Sonu Bhati, the gunner of former MP Akshay Yadav had reached the dhaba in the Kasna area around 12.30am, along with his three friends, and demanded that the eatery employees serve them food. However, the dhaba owner Amit refused to serve food to them, saying that it was closing time for them.
“This led to an argument between Amit and Sonu and his friends, following which the gunner fired two gunshots at the eatery owner and his employees. Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries in the firing. At the time, around 15 people were present at the dhaba,” Kasna SHO Vivek Trivedi told TOI.
Amit and his employees ran in different corners to save themselves and informed the local police, after which a team of Kasna cops arrived and arrested the four accused. Apart from constable Sonu, who is attached to the Firozabad police lines, his friends — Satendra Bhati, Shivam Singh and Durgesh — have been arrested.
While Sonu and Satendra belong to Greater Noida’s Dankaur area, Shivam is from Meerut and Durgesh from Firozabad. Additional DCP (Greater Noida) Vishal Pandey said that the accused have been booked under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 34 (common intention). A licensed revolver and two SUVs have been seized from their possession.
