'Langoor' electrocuted in Thane

Thane, Dec 13 (UNI) A 'langoor' (monkey) was today electrocuted when it climbed over the electric pole and came into contract with the live electric wire the officials said.

The chief of the RDMC of the TMC Santosh Kadam told this correspondent that it was around 9.50 this morning the monkey climbed up the pole at Road No 28 of Wagle Estate, in the city and got electrocuted.

Upon getting the message the officials of the RDMC and Forest department and fire brigade rushed in and took the body which was later handed over to the forest department for further procedure.

It was on December 07, at the same spot two Langoors got electrocuted and died when they climbed up the electric pole in the morning around the same time.

On October 10, last in the similar manner two langurs got electrocuted in the same locality when they climbed up the pole and died.

According to the Animal lovers the animals from SGNP stray into the residential localities abetting the park and due to the fear of humans climb up the electric pole and loose their lives.
