Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC in Poonch

JAMMU: Pakistan on Saturday violated the ceasefire after a lull of three days, resorting to unprovoked firing and intense shelling targeting forward posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s Poonch district.
“Around 6pm, Pakistan initiated firing with small arms and heavy mortar shelling along the LoC in Poonch’s Balakote sector, to which Indian Army retaliated effectively,” Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said, adding that there were no reports of injury or damage on own side so far.
Earlier on Wednesday (December 9), Pakistan breached the truce along the LoC in Poonch’s Mankote sector. On December 5-6, Pakistan violated the ceasefire four times — thrice along the LoC in Poonch and once along the International Border in Hiranagar sector in Kathua district.
