Republic TV CEO remanded into police custody till Dec 15

Mumbai, Dec 13 (UNI) Mumbai Police on Sunday arrested Republic TV CEO Vikas Khanchandani in connection with the ongoing probe into the Television Rating Point (TRP) scam case.

Later, he was produced before a holiday court which remanded him into police custody till Dec 15.



He is the 13th person to be arrested in the alleged TRP scam in which at least three television channels, including Republic TV, were named by the police.



The Republic TV termed the arrest as “illegal”, saying he was arrested from his home at around 0300 hours without serving proper notice.



The channel said, “Republic TV issues national appeal for courts to intervene to stop attacks on an independent news organization,” with a hashtag, #FreeRepublicCEONow.



Terming the police action as “targeting” of the Republic TV, the channel said that Khanchandani has already been summoned in past and subject to interrogation of over 100 hours by the Mumbai Police.
