The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked West Bengal to release three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for central deputation. This follows the attack on BJP chief JP Nadda’s convoy on Thursday when Nadda was headed to Diamond Harbour, the Lok Sabha constituency of CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew.
Intimidation tactic
The Centre is resorting to coercive means to intimidate the state admn.
Bhola Nath Pandey (SP-Diamond Harbour), Praveen Tripathi (DIG-Presidency Range) and Rajeev Mishra (ADG-South Bengal) were responsible for Nadda’ security during his trip to Diamond Harbour.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted, “This should serve as a clear message to the Bengal bureaucracy. If dereliction of duty, based on political consideration, is your calling, then there will be cost.”
Letter has no merit
Everyone saw what happened on Dec 10... little merit in Banerjee’s letter.
TMC chief whip in the Lok Sabha Kalyan Banerjee on Saturday wrote to Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, saying that West Bengal’s Chief Secretary and DGP had been summoned to Delhi with a “political motive”.
