From tomorrow no time restrictions for women in EMU trains, SRly to resume circular services

Chennai, Dec 13 (UNI) With the COVID-19 cases in the
city continuing to be on the decline, the Southern Railway
will permit all women passengers to travel in Chennai
suburban EMU trains from tomorrow without any time
restrictions on all the days of the week.
Similarly children up to 12 years of age accompanying
women passengers would also be permitted to travel,
a Railway release said here on Sunday.
This move would benefit all lady passengers as they
would be able to travel in the suburban EMU train
services throughout the day.
With this, travel of women passengers restricting,
which was hitherto allowed only during non-peak
hours, has been withdrawn.
The Railways also announced resumption of circular
suburban services oln the Chengalpattu–Kanchipuram-
Arakkonam sector
It will also resume suburban services in the Chennai
Beach-Chengalpattu–Kanchipuram/Tirumalpur from
tomorrow, benefitting a large number of office-goers
and other commuters travelling from the vicinity of
Kanchipuram and Arakkonam.
Southern Railway is expanding the scope of passengers,
who are allowed to travel, in the Chennai suburban train
system in a phased manner.
It also appealed to all the commuters using suburban
train services to follow all the COVID-19 protocols
issued by the Central and State governments.
