Land rates along Yamuna eway to go up next fiscal

Greater Noida: Be ready to shell out more for land along the Yamuna expressway from next fiscal.
At its board meeting on Monday, the Yamuna Expressway Authority is likely to move a proposal to increase the rate it would give to farmers for acquiring their land in Dankaur and Jewar by an additional Rs 473 for a sqm. And TOI has learnt that the additional burden is expected to be passed on to the allottees of land along the high-speed corridor from the next financial year.
The Authority has been purchasing land from farmers in the Yamuna expressway area at the rate of Rs 1,827 for a sqm. A total of 45,383 hectare of land across 131 villages have been notified by the Authority for the Jewar international airport project and the development of new sectors. So far, development work has taken place in about three dozen villages only, while the remaining are yet to be taken up.
Since those from the six villages affected by the Jewar airport project were awarded compensation at the rate of Rs 2,300 for a sqm, other farmers have also demanded the same amount for their land chunks. YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh said, “Since most of the schemes launched during 2020 have bagged overwhelming response, we need to acquire more land in order to develop more sectors. We need to match the rates offered for the Jewar airport land acquisition and hence rates need to be revised and increased on an urgent basis.”
The Authority is also expected to take approval from senior officials for starting work on developing the second phase notified under the Authority.
