Pondy registers 49 new cases in the UT in 24 hours

Puducherry, Dec 13 (UNI) With the detection of 49 more COVID-19 cases, the total tally in the district surged to 37,492.



No deaths were reported during the last 24 hrs.



According to the COVID-19 status for Sunday released by the health department, of the 1779 swab tests taken yesterday, 49 tested positive for the virus. 25 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 12 in Karaikal, two in Yanam region and 10 in Mahe region. As many as 57 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. 26 of them were from Puducherry region, five from Karaikal, two from Yanam and 24 from Mahe region.



Presently, 83 persons are being treated in Puducherry region, six in Karaikal, seven in Yanam and 105 in Mahe region. Another, 136 positive cases are under home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory.



So far, 37,492 persons were infected by the virus of which 36,536 were treated and discharged and 619 died leaving 337 active cases here.



The case fatality rare in the UT is 1.65 per cent and recovery rate 97.45 per cent.
