Farmers' protest LIVE updates Day 18: The heads of all farmer unions protesting against the Centre's new agri laws for over two weeks now will observe a one-day hunger strike on Monday. The hunger strike between 8 am to 5 pm on Monday is part of the farmers' plan to intensify their agitation from December 14.

On the 18th day of farmers' protest on different border of Delhi, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Sunday said the government's door is always open for farmers and it is ready to discuss their issues. Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Som Parkash met Home Minister Amit Shah today amidst farmers' protests against the Centre's three agriculture laws.

Farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, have been protesting at Delhi's borders demanding the repeal of the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
 
Prime Minister assured farmers on Saturday that the reforms were aimed at helping them as thousands of farmers continued protests against three new laws to overhaul procurement and sale of produce. “The aim of the all government reforms is to make farmers’ prosperous,” he said.
