Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Live on Disney Hotstar at 6.30 PM : Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will be on pole and 7 times world champion Lewis Hamilton will challenge him in the last F1 Race of the season. Verstappen delivered a magical lap in qualifying to clinch his maiden pole position for the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Saturday.
The Red Bull driver got the better of Mercedes for the first time in 2020 with the top three separated by just 0.086 seconds.Verstappen started badly as he flatspotted his first set of tyres and then struggled for performance in the first segment. But he got better and better as the session went on under the lights at Yas Martina to take the first non-Mercedes pole in Abu Dhabi since 2013.
It ended Mercedes` run of being one-two in every Q3 session at Abu Dhabi in the turbo-hybrid era, Verstappen`s stunning middle sector making the difference to put him on P1 at a track where he has never led a lap in his Formula 1 career.
Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: Can half fit Hamilton deliver today ?
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton said he was still feeling the after-effects of COVID-19 after qualifying third for Formula One’s Abu Dhabi season-ender but vowed to give his all in Sunday’s race.
The 35-year-old Mercedes driver has returned after testing positive for the novel coronavirus and missing the Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain last weekend. He has tested negative repeatedly this week.
The Briton did not want to go into medical detail but said the virus had to be taken seriously and he felt for all those who had suffered from it or were mourning lost loved ones.
“I am not 100 per cent, I still have some feeling within my lungs,” he said.
Hamilton this F1 Season –
He has won 11 of 16 races, equalling his best season performance, but a 12th win of 2020 would be the icing on the cake of another stellar season that has seen Mercedes take both titles for the seventh year in a row.
He will be presented with his trophy for once again being the most superior driver on the grid, having done so in six of seven seasons during F1’s hybrid engine era.
The Briton is already the sport’s most successful driver of all time, surpassing Ferrari great Michael Schumacher’s record 91 wins and equalling the German’s seven titles.
