2 women Naxals slain in MP

Balaghat, MP, Dec 12 (UNI) Two female Maoists were neutralised during an encounter on Saturday within Kirnapur Police Station area’s Borgaon forest adjoining Maharashtra.
“Teams were dispatched following a tip-off that approximately 25 ultras had reached Borgaon for staging a major incident. Material was appropriated from the scene. The deceased were identified as Shobha and Savitri who were active Dalam members for one-and-a-half decades. Dozens of cases – including homicide, assault on security personnel and loot – were registered against the duo in our state, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. It is suspected that other outlaws were also killed or injured during the action. A cordon is in place and a search operation has been intensified,” Superintendent of Police Abhishek Tiwari said.

War against COVID-19: MP’s body count rises to 3,391

Bhopal, Dec 12 (UNI) The fatality figure owing to the ‘millennium scourge’ mounted to 3,391 on Saturday in Madhya Pradesh where nine fresh demises were reported even as the infected tally touched 2,22,397 with 1,282 more sufferers being detected during analysis of 29,307 specimens.
A Health Services Directorate bulletin issued tonight pegged the active cases at 12,947. Indore District continued to have the dubious distinction of spawning the highest 431 new instances; Bhopal 293, Jabalpur 59, Gwalior 42, Khargone 25; etc. The silver lining is that 2,06,059 individuals recuperated; 1,418 of them on this very day.

Accident claims 3

Shahdol, MP, Dec 12 (UNI) Three labourers died when their stationary tractor – which had suffered a mechanical failure – was rammed by a truck in the vicinity of Batura village on Saturday, law-enforcement authorities said.
The deceased were identified as Jeevandas Mehra (22), Mukesh Pao (25) and Bharosa Paleeha (45) who were residents of Khamhidol village and conveying chopped wood to a paper mill. The trio were asleep under the vehicle. The corpses were conveyed to a Burhar-based infirmary for autopsy.
