Telangana reports 573 new covid cases, four fatalities

Hyderabad, Dec 13 (UNI) With the detection of 573 new COVID-19 cases reported, the total tally in the state surged to 2,77,724 till 2200 hrs on Saturday.

After four patients died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours,the cumulative toll in the state mounted to 1,493 till date translating a case fatality rate of 0.53 per cent as against the countrywide mortality of 1.5 per cent,a state health department bulletin said on Sunday.

The total number of recoveries in the state now stood at 2,68,601 following the recovery of 609 people from coronavirus between Friday and Saturday constituting a recovery rate of 96.71 per cent while the national average was 94.9 per cent.

Currently, the state has 7,630 active cases including 5,546 individuals in home or institutional isolation,the bulletin said.

Of the 47,186 swab samples tested to detect the contagious virus in the last 24 hours,the results of 613 swab samples were pending.

More than 61.28 lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state thus far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Remaining the top contributor of coronavirus cases,the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation registered 127 new cases in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (67),Rangareddy (58),Khammam and Warangal urban 33 each and Karimnagar 23.

The remaining coronavirus infections of the day were reported by other districts, the bulletin added.
