FEEDS College girls hostel inaugurated

Imphal, December 12 2020: A newly constructed girls hostel for FEEDS College at Hengbung, Kangpokpi was inaugurated, today.

The hostel inauguration programme was participated by Lok Sabha MP, Dr RK Ranjan; FEEDS Group of Institutions, president, Haokholet Kfpgen; Direc-tor-in-Charge, Prof Lokhon Saikia and Lt General (retd), Konsam Himalaya as presidium members.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr RK Ranjan expressed belief that the Agricultural Colleges established by FEEDS Group of Institutions will play a key role in developing the rural areas of North East India.

The Northeastern part of India is a biodiversity hotspot inhabited by different communities, said the MP and added that the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot - which includes Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura and portion of Myanmar is one of the m6st biologically important regions of the planet.

Dr Ranjan also stated that he had visited remote places of the State as a worker of Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha in the 1980s to popularise science under the supervision of the then Chairman of UGC, Yash Pal.

The MP continued that he met Haokholet Kipgen for the time during a National seminar on "Alternative to jhum cultivation of the NE India" conducted as part of the visit.

Saying that he is content to see the KVK complex at Hengbung, Dr Ranjan continued that he and Haokholet Kipgen often discussed in the past to establish a higher educational institution suitable to the hill areas of the region.

He (Haokholet) has realised his dream today by opening one of the most important colleges to people of North-East Indian, added the MP and prayed for the success of the various Agriculture, Horticulture, Biotechnology, Fishery and Forestry colleges established under FEEDS Group of Institutions.
