Coronavirus LIVE: India cases at 9,827,026; global death toll past 1.6 mn

Coronavirus update: On Friday, India reported 29,039 fresh Covid-19 cases. Its case tally now stands at 9,826,031. The country's death toll has mounted to 142,618. With 1,872,440 cases, Maharashtra has the highest number of coronavirus cases, followed by Karnataka 899,011, Andhra Pradesh 874,000, Tamil Nadu 796,475, and Kerala 658,683. Delhi recorded 2,385 fresh Covid-19 cases on Friday with over 71,000 tests being conducted, even as the positivity rate stood at 3.33 per cent

World coronavirus update: The global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 71,403,679. While 49,588,549 have recovered, 1,600,238 have died so far. The US, the worst-hit country, has 16,282,753 cases, and 302,696 have died from the disease there. It is followed by India, which has 9,826,031 cases, Brazil (6,836,313), Russia (2,597,711), France (2,351,372).
