Verona defeats Lazio: It was Lazio vs Verona in the 11th game week of Serie A. The match Lazio vs Hellas Verona ended as a 1-2 defeat for Lazio.
Verona went to the Stadio Olimpico to play their 11th match in Serie A. The first goal of the match came right before the referee blew the whistle for halftime.
Lazio’s Manuel Lazzari scored an own goal right at the 45th-minute mark to give the visitors a lead.
This lead was canceled by Filipe Caicedo for the hosts after he scored in the 56th minute to equalize.
That was not enough as Adrien Tamaze scored the second goal for the hosts just 10 minutes later to gain the lead for the visitors. The match ended Lazio 1-2 Verona.
Verona now sits in the 6th spot with 19 points. Lazio has 17 points and is at the 8th spot in Serie A table.
Chief architects of Lazio’s recent success, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Ciro Immobile both starred against Club Brugge in midweek, as the club qualified for the last-16 of the Champions League for the first time in 20 years with a 2-2 draw at the Olimpico.
Last season Immobile won and converted a penalty in the first half, while Luis Alberto – another key man who has been absent due to COVID-19 infection earlier this season – ran the game from midfield.
Ivan Juric‘s well-drilled side drew 1-1 with mid-table counterparts Cagliari last week and have generally provided a positive output, even after losing some of their better players in the summer.
Their Croat coach is often cited as a major factor in the club’s ascendancy, leading the team to successive seasons of fighting things out in the top half despite a relatively modest squad.
