INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON ‘SPORTS COACHING EDUCATION AND BEST PRACTICES: AN INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE’
National Sports University and National Centre of Sports Coaching, Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala organized two days International Webinar on ‘Sports Coaching Education and best Practices: An International Perspective’ on 26th and 27th November, 2020.
Sh. Ravi Mital IAS, Secretary Sports, MYAS was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony. During his address Secretary Sports emphasised the importance of different coaching educational programmes needed for India to achieve similar standard as western countries. He opined that there is a need of National Sports Board for Coaching Education to formulate standardized coaching education programmes. He reiterated that the outcome of the deliberation of different technical sessions will help the coaching community to improvise their practices.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Sh. R.C. Mishra, IAS (Retd.), Vice Chancellor, NSU, who in his address highlighted the courses offered by NSU and the need to improve educational programmes in India.
Sr. Executive Director NIS Patiala and other eminent dignitaries were also present during the inaugural session.
The two days webinar focused on the challenges and opportunities available for making coaching education in relevant to 21st century and to international standards. Experts from Germany, Sweden and India deliberated on the changes required in the coaching education in India.

who diligently deliberated on topics like Preparing coaches for 21st century: Need of new educational programmes, Skill needed to become a successful coach, The change needed in Current practices in coach education, Role of Sports Sciences in coach education and practice, How Fit India movement has pushed the society to choose sports as an career and How world class coaches use technology to their aid.
Approx. 1000 of coaches, sports administrators, physical educationist, and students joined the webinar.
