CHENNAI: Southern Railway will permit woman passengers and children accompanying them to travel in all
suburban trains from December 14.
So far,
women commuters, not working in the essential services sector, have been allowed to travel only during non-peak hours in view of
Covid-19.
Suburban trains in Chennai Beach- Chengalpet– Kancheepuram/Thirumalpur-Arakkonam will be resumed on December 14. This will benefit a large number of office-goers and other commuters travelling from the vicinity of Kancheepuram and Arakkonam.
Southern Railway is allowing more categories of commuters in the suburban trains in a phased manner.
