A doctor couple from a private hospital in Kalyan is struggling to save the life of a newborn boy rescued from a garbage bin earlier this week.
Five hospitals in the area reportedly refused to treat the baby fearing they would have to bear the medical expenses. The newborn is in a crtical condition and on life support at City Criticare Hospital, run by Dr Neeta Zabak and her husband Dr Nitin Zabak.
The baby had injuries on his head and the umbilical cord was still attached when he was found on Wednesday by passersby, who informed the local police. “We have decided to bear all the expenses of treating the baby, whose condition is currently serious,” said Dr Neeta.
