A 25-year-old man died of an alleged overdose of a sex stimulant in Bhopal on Thursday.

Preliminary probe suggests it’s a suicide, investigation officer SI Devendra Amb said. The victim, Babu Meena, didn’t leave any suicide note, though, and police are yet to find any motive for it. He had apparently taken 10 pills and was admitted to the hospital with acute respiratory distress.

Babu was a bachelor and worked with a private firm. His younger brother, Sonu, has told police that Babu took several sex stimulant tablets on December 7. His health started deteriorating almost immediately. He began complaining of restlessness, giddiness, nausea, vomiting, and acute abdominal pain.

Babu visited a doctor and took some medicines but his health kept worsening. His family took him to another private doctor, but when his respiratory trouble got worse, he was admitted to a hospital around 6pm on December 9. He died around 2am the next day, say police.
His viscera has been preserved for forensic tests. Police hope the autopsy report will reveal the cause of death.

Dr Ragesh Rai, who treated Babu at the hospital, said that the attendant who accompanied Babu said he had taken sex stimulant tablets. When he was brought to the hospital, he went into respiratory failure and was put on a ventilator but could not survive, said Dr Rai, adding that it’s not clear which brand of pills he had taken.
