  • "Our protest entered the third day today. When will Delhi government pay unpaid dues of Rs 13,000 crore to the civic bodies?" New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Mayor Jai Prakash told ANI.

Delhi Traffic Police informs commuters about closed routes amid farmers' protest

  • "Available Open Borders to Haryana are-Jharoda (Only Single Carriageway/Road), Daurala, Kapashera, Badusarai, Rajokri NH 8, Bijwasan/Bajghera, Palam Vihar and Dundahera Borders," Delhi Traffic Police tweeted today.
  • "Tikri, Dhansa Borders are closed for any Traffic Movement. Jhatikara Borders is open only for two-wheelers and pedestrian movement," Delhi Traffic Police added.
  • The chilla and Gazipur borders are closed for traffic from Noida and Gaziabad to Delhi due to farmers' protests. People are advised to take an alternate route for coming to Delhi via Anand Vihar, DND, Apsara and bhopra borders.
  • "Singhu, Auchandi, Piau Maniyari and Mangesh borders are closed. Please take alternate routes via Lampur, Safiabad, Saboli and Singhu school toll tax borders. Traffic has been diverted from Mukarba and GTK road. Pl avoid Outer Ring Rd, GTK Road, NH 44," Delhi Traffic Police added.

ISRO to launch 42nd Communication Satellite on Dec 17

  • Communication satellite CMS-01 onboard the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C50) is scheduled from the the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR in Sriharikota on December 17, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said on Friday.
  • The CMS-01 is India's 42nd Communication Satellite envisaged to provide services in the Extended-C Band of the frequency spectrum whose coverage will include the Indian mainland, Andaman-Nicobar, and Lakshadweep Islands.
  • This will be the 77th launch vehicle mission from SDSC SHAR in Sriharikota.

Bollywood actress found dead in Kolkata apartment

  • Bengali actress Arya Banerjee who acted in several Bollywood films such as critically acclaimed 'The Dirty Picture' was found dead at her south Kolkata residence on Friday, police said.
  • The police broke open the door of her third-floor apartment and found that the body of the 33-year-old woman was lying in the bedroom.
  • The daughter of late sitarist Nikhil Bandyopadhyay, Arya had acted in 'LSD: Love Sex Aur Dhoka' (2010) and other films besides 'The Dirty Picture' (2011).

Kolkata's air quality turns poor in fog conditions

  • Air quality turned poor across Kolkata on a foggy day on Friday as particulate matters hung in the air, an official of the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) said.
  • In the northern parts of the city, air quality was categorised as very poor as wintry conditions prevailed preventing the dust particles from dispersing.
  • The official said that in the automated air monitoring station at Rabindra Bharati University in a congested north Kolkata area, the air quality index (AQI) read 308 PM 2.5 at 1 pm.
