Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu: This district reports no fresh case

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu added 1,218 cases and 13 deaths to the Covid-19 registry on Saturday. The case tally touched 797,693 and the cumulative death toll reached 11,883. As many as 10,208 people are undergoing treatment.
Ariyalur was the only district to report zero cases in the last 24 hours, and 30 of the 37 districts reported zero deaths. While Chennai reported six deaths, Nagapattinam reported two deaths. Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari, Madurai and Salem reported one death each.
Chennai topped the cases table with 345 new cases, followed by Coimbatore (120). Cases were below 75 in all other districts. Seven districts reported cases in single digits – while Tiruvannamalai reported nine cases, Tirupattur and Dharmapuri reported eight cases each, Tenkasi reported four, Perambalur had four, Ramanathapuram and Kallakurichi logged one each.
The eleven northern districts together clocked 615 fresh cases and seven deaths. The districts together continued to report 50% of active cases with 5,190 people still under treatment on Saturday.The eight districts in the west together reported 342 fresh cases. The central districts reported 97 cases, while the 10 southern districts reported 163 cases.
In the last 24 hours 71,122 people underwent RTPCR tests for Covid-19 across 228 authorized labs. So far, 1.25 crore people have been tested for the viral infection. On Saturday, 1,296 patients were discharged from hospitals.
