Imphal, December 10 2020: People for Animals (PFA) Manipur has stated that seeing Forest staff staging protests is quite disheartening.

In a statement, managing trustee of PFA, Manipur Lourembam Biswajeet Meitei said that seeing such protest from the Forest staff is an indication that the system of the State has failed.

Saying that Forest staff are the protectors of the Forest ecosystem, he added that bullying them with a gun is uncalled for and undermines the fight against climate change.

Though the Divisional Forest Officer has registered an FIR to the Police Station concerned regarding the issue and the people who intimidated the Forest staffers on duty already 'identified', none have been arrested so far, Biswajeet claimed and added that such recklessness on the part of the Government will only encourage people who ignore Forest rules.

Appealing to the State Government to arrest all culprits at the earliest, he added that intense agitation will be launched if the demand is not entertained.
